Thanks to the efforts of academic institutions and private investment, it was possible to reedit the book Chavín, Matrix Culture of the Andean Civilization by Julio C. Tello, known as the Father of Peruvian Archeology. The text was presented at the Ministry of Culture and in the presence of the minister of that sector, Alejandro Neyra Sánchez.
Also present were representatives of the institutions that made possible the reedition of the work: Ingrid Claudet, General Manager of Wiese Foundation; Orestes Cachay, Rector of Universidad Nacional Mayor de San Marcos; and Antonio Pinilla, Legal and Compliance Vice President of Compañía Minera Antamina.
The Minister of Culture, Alejandro Neyra Sánchez, who presented the book, highlighted its importance, since it allows us to know what every Peruvian should know, which is his/her own history. In addition, he congratulated the participation of Wiese Foundation and the Antamina mining company that joined forces for the reedition of the book.

For her part, Ingrid Claudet commented that the idea of reediting Julio C. Tello's book came from two archaeologists from Wiese Foundation: José Alva and Augusto Bazán who, together with their teacher Javier Alcalde, designed this editorial project and presented it to the corresponding entities. From that moment, the Foundation supported each of the stages of production of the book until the day of its presentation to the public.

Also, Antonio Pinilla, representative from Antamina, said that the company has supported the initiatives of research and protection of Chavín for more than a decade. He considered that this civilization not only represents an amazing past, but also present and future, since it has an important tourist potential that has a favorable impact on local development.

Likewise, the rector of San Marcos, Orestes Cachay, maintained that the work of Julio C. Tello reveals the achievements that the ancient Peruvians made and that Chavín consolidated the foundations of Andean civilization and the foundations of cultural integration.
The presentation of the book was attended virtually by scholars of the history of Peru, such as Luis Guillermo Lumbreras, Peter Kaulicke, Luisa Díaz, Rafael Vega-Centeno and César Astuhuamán, who recognized the contribution of Julio C. Tello to the study of ancient Peru.

Julio C. Tello's text represents a valuable source of information for students and the general public. If you want more information about the book, or to acquire this invaluable opus, we invite you to follow the following link.
