The Wiese Foundation has initiated a significant project for the conservation of the cultural heritage guarded in the El Brujo archaeological complex, one of the most emblematic sites on the northern coast of Peru. This project aims to catalog and preserve information on 4,241 archaeological objects, facilitating their access by the public through a virtual catalog and various publications.
The project "Comprehensive cataloging of museum-worthy objects of the El Brujo archaeological complex" focuses on:

• Cataloging: Complementing the basic inventory of archaeological objects with more detailed information on their formal characteristics, their state of conservation and multimedia images, among others.
• Dissemination: Publishing the information in multiple formats for its accessibility.
• Research: Promoting scientific exchanges that enrich knowledge about the collections.
• Normative compliance: Completing the information required for the National Registry of Movable Cultural Property of the Ministry of Culture of Peru.
This project is carried out thanks to the cooperation of the Swiss Government. Through its Federal Office of Culture, this country co-finances with the Wiese Foundation its execution. This collaboration not only reinforces the protection of Peruvian cultural heritage but also fosters international cooperation for its preservation and social use.
The implementation of this project will bring significant benefits to the local community:
• Open collections: The preservation and free access to cultural information will be guaranteed, benefiting present and future generations.
• Historical awareness: The dissemination of the social use of archaeological objects revalorizes the work of their creators, promoting a sense of belonging, reflection and respect for cultural diversity.
• Local development: The preservation of these cultural assets will facilitate new educational and editorial projects, as well as the improvement of the value proposition of local small businesses.
This effort not only seeks to safeguard Peru's cultural heritage, but also to foster greater interest and appreciation for Peru's rich history. For more details about the project and its advances, you can visit the website of the El Brujo archaeological complex.
